Jhpiego is looking for a dynamic leader eager to build on Jhpiego’s global engagement and partnership across its portfolio of programming in 35 countries to drive accelerated progress towards ensuring women and girls realize their reproductive health goals. The Family Planning (FP) Director will provide overall vision, leadership and direction to FP efforts across the organization, represent Jhpiego globally, champion FP as a public health and development investment priority, develop and maintain relationships to grow Jhpiego’s FP portfolio and seek opportunities to innovate and advance the field. The FP Director will ensure technical excellence across the portfolio, supervise and manage technical staff in the family planning unit, execute activities, and oversee progress of unit priorities. The ideal candidate is pragmatic, family planning savvy, and skilled at developing and taking strategy into action with stakeholders inside and external to the organization.
The Senior Program Coordinator will work in close collaboration with the Program Officer, Finance Manager, and representatives from different Jhpiego departments (e.g., Contracts Management Compliance Division [CMCD], Travel, Procurement, Global External Communications Office [GECO]) to support country teams and global projects to successfully implement projects. The Senior Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that administrative tasks are completed. The exact support needed will vary by country, but will likely include: US-based procurement, processing contracts, setting up payments from US, setting up meetings, taking notes, reviewing/editing reports, minor translation needs for certain countries, etc. The Senior Program Coordinator will support Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania country programs.
Finance Manager II is part of the Global Programs Finance Team working closely Program Staff, Contracts, Global Human Resources, and Jhpiego’s Country offices to ensure accurate financial, contractual and administrative reporting to the management team and to agencies external to Jhpiego. Finance Manager II will provide financial leadership and oversight of the financial and contractual aspects of multiple country programs. This includes leads and proposals, start-up, implementation and control, monitoring and evaluation, close-out and cross-cutting GPO functions. Finance Manager II ensures financial systems and reports are compatible with standard Jhpiego accounting practices and follow donor rules and regulations. Finance Manager II also provides capacity building, coaching and mentoring of junior finance staff and local partners by developing learning activities and materials to support capacity building.
Events and Conference Manager will be a member of the team for Secretariat for AlignMNH, a five-year project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in collaboration with USAID. AlignMNH aims to align global maternal and newborn health advocacy, metrics, financing and action in support of accelerated improvements in MNH and well-being in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Events and Conference Manager will promote and enhance the exchange of maternal and newborn health technical knowledge through managing strategic, logistical and media elements before, during and after conferences and events, both live and virtual. The position is responsible for logistical and operational management of a bi-annual international conference & exhibition as well as a planned series of virtual engagement convenings. The conference, exhibition and virtual engagement series will provide a much-needed opportunity to convene the global MNH community and key partners on a predictable, regular basis to publicly recognize country progress toward agreed metrics, create innovative ways to track progress, share evidence, new ideas and effective implementation strategies, catalyze investment, and fuel global and national action. It is envisioned that countries will work and learn together at the conference and support a new generation of leaders, unified behind a vision of accelerating progress toward MNH targets.
In addition to the management of the conference, exhibition and virtual engagement series, the Conference Manager will also be responsible for providing program and ancillary support for management of AlignMNH’s Steering Committee meetings, presence at multiple domestic and international public health conferences, and planning special events as deemed necessary by donor and Secretariat.
The Senior Program Coordinator will work in close collaboration with the Program Officer, in-country team, Finance Manager, and representatives from different Jhpiego departments – Global Human Resources (GHR), Contracts Management Compliance Division (CMCD), Travel, Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Procurement, Global External Communications Office (GECO), Facilities , etc. – to coordinate and support program, financial, contractual, monitoring and administrative functions for country programs in francophone Africa and for the global Performance Monitoring for Action (PMA) project.
The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Advisor provides overall technical leadership to Jhpiego Tanzania programs in IPC, hospital acquired infections (HAI) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance. Projects requiring technical assistance may include: 1) The development and piloting of the Operational Guidance for Hospital IPC Committees (e.g. a manual or handbook) that can be used at health facilities of all levels in LMIC; and 2) the Global Healthcare Detection and Response Project. This project focuses on detecting and responding to infectious disease threats in healthcare facilities to prevent transmission of infections in healthcare settings and contain emerging AMR threats and responds to outbreaks in healthcare facilities, keeping them from becoming amplifiers of disease transmission. The IPC advisor may also provide in house technical assistance to other Jhpiego programming including the technical areas of HIV prevention including VMMC, reproductive maternal child health, COVID-19, and family planning.
Jhpiego is a lead implementing partner for private foundations and large international donors supporting HIV programs globally, including HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)-related products and services. The regionally-based Implementation Science and Service Delivery Advisor is responsible for contributing to research planning, including identification of research questions and study methods to answer knowledge gaps related to existing HIV PrEP implementation and introduction of new PrEP technologies under a new USAID-funded project focused on expanding access to HIV prevention technologies. Knowledge gaps span the full spectrum of implementation/product introduction, including: regulatory and policy; provider training and competency assessment; supportive supervision and mentorship; forecasting and supply chain management; marketing and demand creation, including counseling and interventions for behavior change; all aspects of service provision; monitoring and evaluation; and quality assurance and improvement. Key work will focus on differentiated service delivery models, to include private pharmacies and e-commerce partners. For imminent PrEP products, national rollout studies are planned for a number of key countries, and Jhpiego’s Implementation Science and Service Delivery Advisor will be responsible for coordinating protocols across countries and providing technical assistance to ensure uniformity in execution. This coordination work will involve close engagement with other non-governmental organization implementers supporting HIV PrEP, stakeholders from the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), ministries of health, and normative agencies, among others. Each country engaged in national rollout studies will have dedicated staff to execute agreed research activities, and the Implementation Science and Service Delivery Advisor will provide director technical oversight for these positions, though there will not be supervisorial responsibilities. Beyond responsibilities for national rollout studies, this technical advisor will provide HIV PrEP technical assistance across an array of HIV PrEP work, including: serve as the implementation science liaison with advisory committees that include product developers; engagement with local partners and private sector stakeholders; coordination of programming to maximize integration opportunities with gender considerations, sexual and reproductive health, and health services relevant to adolescent girls and women; and, represent evidence stemming from implementation research on research utilization endeavors. All Jhpiego HIV PrEP efforts aim to provide evidence for use by the World Health Organization in formulation of normative guidance and recommendations, with an eye toward demedicalization of PrEP toward self-care strategies for health.
This position will also provide technical assistance to Jhpiego PrEP projects by providing strategic and technical leadership in the development of PrEP materials and implementation approaches. Working closely with field-based and international technical and program staff, the Regional PrEP Implementation Science and Service Delivery Advisor provides technical and programmatic guidance to programs throughout Africa.
They will be responsible for reporting on Jhpiego activities and solving problems in short timeframes, while ensuring operational and program quality and integrity. This includes ensuring effective organizational management and communication interacting with other projects, Jhpiego staff and offices across the sub-Saharan Africa region, as well as international partners and agencies. This position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership is a five-year global project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) that focuses on capacity-building of country partners to improve outcomes for maternal, newborn, and child health; voluntary family planning; and reproductive health (MNCH/FP/RH).
Program Officer II (PO II) needed to support planning, implementing and reporting for two global HIV prevention implementation research programs including work planning; technical and program support to teams and working groups; report writing; financial oversight and sub-award management; operations and administration. PO II will support implementation of project activities at the central and country levels for RISE as well as anticipated future HIV prevention programs, liaising with technical, country backstop, finance, operations, communications, and other units within Jhpiego to ensure coordination and integration of project activities. PO II will also support coordination with project partners as well as with USAID as needed.
Reaching Impact, Saturation, and Epidemic Control (RISE) is a $135 million, 5-year global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Through RISE, Jhpiego implements HIV prevention research and programmatic efforts focused on introduction and scale up of HIV prevention products including oral PrEP, long-acting cabotegravir (CAB-LA) and other biomedical prevention products (BPP).
Jhpiego has partnered with the Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) to staff and train their COVID-19 Mobile Vaccine workforce. Focusing on vaccine equity, Jhpiego and the BCHD are committed to focused, culturally responsive outreach to ensure access to and acceptance of COVID-19 vaccine by all Baltimoreans through strategic implementation of mobile vaccine clinics. The COVID-19 Mobile Vaccine program engages Baltimore City community members, ambassadors, and leaders to bring culturally responsive COVID-19 vaccine to priority populations through mobile clinics while also working to address vaccine acceptance and uptake among these groups throughout Baltimore.
The Baltimore City COVID-19 Data Manager will lead a team of data analysts and data entry clerks to enter, analyze, and coordinate large quantities of data from multiple sources and streams in support of Baltimore City’s COVID-19 vaccination program. This position will support the VALUE (Vaccine Access and Acceptance Lives in Unity, Education and Engagement) Communities Team, which aims to ensure equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution across Baltimore; and will work closely with the Mobile Vaccine Team, which enables access to and uptake of COVID-19 by bringing vaccine closer to Baltimore City communities through the provision of mobile vaccination clinics. The Data Manager will lead data entry, analysis, and management for both teams as needed, and will coordinate closely with the Epidemiology Team for oversight and overall coordination of data activities. Under the supervision of Jhpiego and the Baltimore City Health Department, the Data Manager will lead the synthesis, coordination, and presentation of all COVID-19 VALUE Communities and Mobile Vaccine Team data, and is expected to engage with counterparts, community members, and other stakeholders in the COVID-19 response in Baltimore City with professionalism and a solution-focused attitude. This position will lead data management for mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinics for VALUE communities, focused initially on older adult and homeless populations and rolling out to other populations as vaccine eligibility criteria expands.
This is a temporary position funded through February 2022. This position is primarily remote, although there may be infrequent need to visit or work from the mobile sites.
