Background: RISE in collaboration with MOH contributes to the National COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan by improving vaccine coverage, strengthen the oxygen ecosystem, and support health system capacity for the management of COVID-19 patients. With additional funding, Jhpiego through RISE, will work with stakeholders to strengthen the referral system.
Goal/Purpose: To provide technical assistance to Jhpiego Lesotho, Ministry of Health and stakeholders in the development of a pre-hospital emergency referral system.
Duration: Up to 6 Months (Expected start asap)
Jhpiego is a non-profit organization, operating in Lesotho since 2012 through supporting the government of Lesotho in delivering health services to the Basotho people. Jhpiego’s portfolio currently focuses on HIV/TB and COVID epidemic response, and includes a range of HIV and COVID focused programming and research efforts including Khanya (VMMC and PrEP), Thebe (TB Contact Tracing and COVID Response), RISE (COVID Case Management and Vaccine Support), MOSAIC (biomedical HIV prevention including Dapivirine Ring Introduction), CUT-TB (RCT) and various other small studies.
Under the supervision of the MOSAIC Project Director, the Deputy Project Director will lead biomedical HIV prevention research activities including data collection, analysis and report writing. He/she will also support programmatic and technical integrity of the MOSAIC project in Lesotho.
The position is based in Maseru.
Sr. Finance Manager (Francophone) will provide leadership in overseeing the financial and contractual aspects of Jhpiego’s global programs finance unit for the Francophone portfolio. This includes support during the full life cycle of a assigned programs for various countries including but not limited to: proposals, start-up, implementation financial monitoring and management, close-out and other cross-cutting functions such as auditing and financial reporting. The Sr. Finance Manager (Francophone) is part of the Program Finance Unit Management Team working closely with the Sr. Director of the Global Programs Finance Unit, Program Staff, and Jhpiego’s Country offices to ensure accurate financial, contractual and administrative reporting to the management team and to agencies external to Jhpiego. This includes ensuring financial systems and reports are compatible with standard Jhpiego accounting practices and follow donor rules and regulations.
The Sr. Finance Manager provides financial guidance to the GPO Management Team, Jhpiego’s Program Managers, Country Directors, and agencies external to Jhpiego, particularly partner organizations. The SFM must work closely with both the Global Programs Finance Unit’s leadership to ensure that resources are appropriately allocated and tracked (including earmarks) and that expenditures are in line with available funding. The SFM must also provide capacity building, coaching and mentoring of junior finance staff at HQ and in-country and local partners by developing learning activities and materials to support capacity building. Contribute to staff orientation and technical updates to ensure staff possess excellent knowledge of technical area and approaches.
The DREAMS Technical Lead will provide technical oversight and direction for an anticipated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) project focusing on scaling-up Comprehensive High Impact Community Based HIV Prevention, Testing and Treatment initiation services in five PEPFAR districts in Lesotho. The DREAMS Technical Lead will support the third strategy under this project: Provide integrated programming of DREAMS core package of interventions for AGYW and their sexual partners. This Technical Lead will use project data to inform development and adaptation of best practices and will lead the DREAMS team to implement targeted and high-quality interventions that achieve project goals, objectives and project targets. S/he will identify opportunities for innovation and address bottlenecks. S/he will be responsible for representing the CDC DREAMS project interventions in donor, partner and district level meetings; for ensuring collaboration with other partners/stakeholders, and working closely with District Management Team (DHMT), to ensure alignment with their priorities and guidance. S/he will ensure timely and cost-effective district level implementation and reporting to the project management team. This position is contingent upon award. Program Officer needed to provide coordinated and comprehensive program management support across global COVID-19 and critical care response projects, under a global USAID-funded project. Program Officer will join a growing core team of program, financial and technical staff, to support development, implementation and monitoring of project activities at the central and country levels for RISE COVID-19 response activities, including critical care case management, vaccination, O2 infrastructure, field support and related activities. This includes support planning, implementing and reporting for expanding global COVID-19 emergency response efforts, including work planning; technical and program support to teams and working groups; report writing; financial oversight and sub-award management; operations and administration. Program Officer will provide critical support to the program leadership to liaise with technical, country backstop, finance, operations, communications, and other units within Jhpiego to ensure coordination and integration of project activities. Program Officer will also support coordination with RISE implementing and consortium partners, Johns Hopkins University Center for Global Emergency Care, as well as with USAID as needed.
Reaching Impact, Saturation, and Epidemic Control (RISE) is a $200+ million, 5-year global project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Through RISE, Jhpiego implements HIV prevention research and programmatic efforts; and over the past year, RISE has leveraged these HIV platforms to respond to the COVID-19 crisis in priority countries including but not limited to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique and Rwanda.

In support of its ongoing Strategic Refresh, Jhpiego seeks a highly motivated, competent and dynamic individual to join its global Malaria Portfolio as a Sr. Malaria Advisor. Jhpiego’s contribution to ending malaria includes its work in global technical leadership and support to malaria programming and implementation in 23 countries malaria-endemic countries. The Malaria Portfolio receives funding from the United States President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Unitaid, ExxonMobil Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
The Sr. Malaria Advisor will contribute to the provision of technical leadership and to ensuring technical excellence across Jhpiego’s portfolio of malaria projects. Sr. Malaria Advisor will also represent Jhpiego globally, develop opportunities and maintain relationships that grow critical aspects of Jhpiego’s portfolio namely malaria case management, malaria surveillance and elimination, health systems strengthening including governance, financing, procurement and supply chain management and implementation research. The Sr. Advisor will provide leadership, expertise, and high level technical and program support for implementation of malaria prevention, treatment, surveillance, monitoring, evaluation, research and learning activities at country level. This will include support for policy adoption, updating of guidelines, building health worker capacity, continuous quality improvement, improving access to quality malaria services, facilitating data use for decision making and documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
Budget Analyst needed to work in collaboration with Finance & Accounting Office staff to analyze, evaluate, project and monitor all financial transactions and budgets related to field office programs. Jhpiego is seeking a Technical Director to provide technical guidance, management leadership, and support for the COVID-19 response in Lesotho. Under the RISE project, Jhpiego will be implementing interventions to support the Government of Lesotho to prevent, detect and respond to COVID-19. A significant focus of our work is accelerating and strengthening the technical and operational capacity of local healthcare workers to deliver high quality COVOD-19 vaccination services, prevent the nosocomial spread of SARS-CoV-2, provide quality case management and allow for the safe maintenance of routine essential services, including the provision of clinical technical assistance around the triage of patients and appropriate use of intensive care resources, safe and effective use of medical equipment, and supporting the mental health and resiliency of healthcare workers.
The Technical Director will be responsible for ensuring technical and operational rigor in the planning and scaled execution of COVID-19 response projects being implemented at the national, regional, and facility level. This includes assisting the clinical response to COVID-19 in treatment centers and improving coordination and communication amongst frontline health workers impacted and engaged in hot zone areas. Additionally, liaising with MOH staff, other partners and donors regarding technical strategy, monitoring and evaluation of project milestones and targets. Sr. Financial Analyst is part of the Global Program Finance Team working closely with Programs, Contracts, and Jhpiego’s Country offices to ensure accurate accounting and financial information is collected and analyzed to be used as data for decision making. The Sr. Financial Analyst will provide financial support to the HQ and Field finance teams in accumulating, tracking and reporting of costs posted in country QBE files.
