Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) Training and Education Specialist – National Level

Jhpiego seeks a Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) Training and Education Specialist – National Level to support the project funded by UNFPA in Indonesia. The project aims to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes by strengthening health worker competencies, health professional education, and quality of care.

The MNH Training and Education Specialist – National will work closely with the Program Manager, Ministry of Health (MoH), professional organizations, academic institutions, and project teams to coordinate and provide technical support for MNH training and education interventions.

The position will focus on the development and institutionalization of maternal and neonatal emergency training curricula and modules, strengthening midwifery education and clinical learning sites, and providing technical assistance to integrate Quality Improvement (QI) approaches into training, education, and clinical practice

• Work closely with the midwivery collegium, professional organizations, clinical experts, academic institutions, and Ministry of Health, to develop and revise curricula and training modules for maternal and neonatal emergency care.
• Coordinate and provide technical support throughout the curriculum and module development process, including competency mapping, development of training materials, clinical skills checklists, assessment tools, and supporting materials.
• Support the development of e-learning packages, including preparation and review of storyboards, collaboration with e-learning vendors, technical content validation, and quality assurance until products are ready for User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Support the UAT, revision, accreditation, and institutionalization processes for MNH training curricula and learning packages.
• Support the planning and implementation of training-of-trainers, facilitator preparation, skills-based training, and other capacity-building activities related to maternal and neonatal emergency care.
• Provide technical assistance to strengthen in-service midwifery education skills development and clinical learning sites, including alignment between academic curricula and clinical practice, competency-based education, simulation, and clinical skills development.
• Support the development and strengthening of clinical preceptors, including preceptorship guidelines, training modules, competency frameworks, assessment tools, and supportive supervision approaches.
• Work with academic institutions and health facilities to strengthen clinical learning environments, skills laboratories, clinical placement, mentoring, and competency assessment.
• Provide technical assistance to ensure integration of quality planning and Quality Improvement into MNH training, education, clinical learning, and service delivery.
• Support faculty members, trainers, preceptors, and health facility teams to ensure integration of quality planning and Quality Improvement into MNH training, education, clinical learning, and service delivery.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager, QI, MEL, Digital Health, and other project teams to plan, monitor, document, and evaluate MNH training and education activities.
• Support the organization of technical meetings, expert consultations, workshops, trainings, and learning sessions at national and sub-national levels.
• Assist in developing TORs, technical materials, reports, presentations, implementation guidance, and documentation of lessons learned and good practices.
• Engage with Ministry of Health, midwifery collegium, professional organizations, academic institutions, provincial and district stakeholders, and partner institutions to promote institutionalization, sustainability, and scale-up of effective MNH training and education interventions.
• Support additional tasks from Program Manager as needed.

• Clinical or health professional background, preferably midwife, medical doctor, nurse, public health professional, health professions educator, or other relevant discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in maternal and newborn health, health professional education, clinical training, or related technical areas.
• Strong knowledge of MNH programs and the Indonesian health and education systems.
• Experience in curriculum development, training module development, instructional design, or competency-based education.
• Experience working with the Ministry of Health, collegium, professional organizations, academic institutions, and health facilities.
• Experience in developing training materials, clinical skills checklists, competency assessment tools, and facilitator materials.
• Experience with e-learning development, storyboard preparation, or collaboration with e-learning vendors is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and experience in midwifery education, clinical preceptorship, simulation, skills laboratories, and/or Quality Improvement is highly desirable.
• Strong facilitation, coordination, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Written and spoken fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
• Ability to travel to provinces and districts as required.
