Overview

Overview:

Jhpiego, an international non-profit health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Knowledge Management and Communications Specialist to support knowledge management, strategic communication, learning, documentation, and visibility activities for the Government-to-Government (G2G) Health Systems Strengthening Project in Liberia.

The Specialist will work closely with project leadership, technical teams, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) staff, government counterparts, and partners to identify, document, package, and disseminate project knowledge, lessons learned, innovations, success stories, and evidence. The position will translate technical information, research findings, and program data into clear, compelling, audience-appropriate communication and learning products that support informed decision-making, policy development, program improvement, and sustainability.

The Specialist will also ensure adherence to Jhpiego and donor communication, branding, and visibility requirements while strengthening government-led learning and knowledge-sharing systems. This position reports to the Country Program Manager or designee.

This position is contingent upon donor award and is for Liberian nationals only.

Responsibilities

Knowledge Management and Learning

  • Develop and implement project knowledge management and learning approaches aligned with project priorities and Jhpiego standards.
  • Identify priority knowledge gaps, learning questions, innovations, and best practices and facilitate processes to capture and share them.
  • Establish and maintain systems for collecting, organizing, storing, retrieving, and disseminating project documents, tools, learning materials, and knowledge products.
  • Work with technical and MEL teams to identify, document, and disseminate project evidence, achievements, lessons learned, and promising practices.
  • Facilitate learning sessions, after-action reviews, reflection meetings, communities of practice, and other knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Synthesize project experiences and evidence into actionable recommendations for stakeholders and decision-makers.

Strategic Communications and Visibility

  • Develop and implement project communication and visibility activities in collaboration with project leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop high-quality communication products including success stories, case studies, newsletters, fact sheets, briefs, presentations, talking points, web content, and social media materials.
  • Translate technical and programmatic information into compelling, evidence-based messages for government, donors, partners, health workers, and communities.
  • Coordinate the collection of photographs, testimonials, quotes, and human-interest stories while ensuring appropriate consent and ethical standards.
  • Support project launches, workshops, conferences, campaigns, and visibility events through communication planning and documentation.
  • Ensure that all communication products comply with Jhpiego and donor branding and marking requirements.

Data Visualization and Knowledge Products

  • Develop high-quality infographics, dashboards, presentations, visual summaries, and other knowledge products using project data and evidence.
  • Collaborate with MEL and technical teams to transform complex data into clear, accurate, and visually engaging communication materials.
  • Review communication and visualization products for technical accuracy, clarity, consistency, and accessibility prior to dissemination.
  • Utilize graphic design and visualization software to produce professional communication materials.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Contribute to project work planning, quarterly and annual reports, technical updates, and other documentation requirements.
  • Edit, format, proofread, and provide quality assurance support for technical reports and project publications.
  • Document project milestones, achievements, challenges, adaptations, and results for internal and external audiences.
  • Develop presentations, briefing materials, and communication packages for project leadership and stakeholder engagements.
  • Maintain organized records and document management systems to support knowledge sharing and institutional learning.

Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with project leadership, technical specialists, MEL staff, operations teams, and government counterparts to coordinate communication and knowledge management activities.
  • Support collaboration with the Ministry of Health, County Health Teams, implementing partners, donors, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate dissemination of knowledge products and learning materials to key audiences.
  • Represent the project in communication, knowledge management, and learning forums when requested.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure all communication and knowledge products meet Jhpiego quality standards and donor requirements.
  • Apply appropriate standards related to confidentiality, safeguarding, ethical communication, and data protection.
  • Ensure proper document version control, approvals, archiving, and publication processes.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Country Program Manager or designee.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Knowledge Management, Digital Marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in knowledge management, strategic communications, documentation, learning, public health, international development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience developing high-quality communication and knowledge products for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working on donor-funded projects; experience with government strengthening or health systems programs is highly desirable.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, synthesize, and translate complex technical information into clear and compelling messages.
  • Experience facilitating learning events, workshops, reflection sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in data visualization, infographic development, graphic design, and visual communication.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Publisher, and relevant design and publishing software.
  • Proficient technical skills in using digital cameras, camcorders, and DSLR equipment.
  • Proficient knowledge of photography, videography, sound recording techniques, and studio lighting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition; experience with Canva, Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization and design tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to produce short videos, AI-generated reels, animated clips, and other multimedia communication products using tools such as CapCut and TikTok Studio.
  • Knowledge of digital communication platforms, content management systems, social media, and multimedia production.
  • Experience producing success stories, photo stories, newsletters, short videos, and other multimedia communication products.
  • Familiarity with donor communication, branding, and marking requirements, including Department of State (DOS) Branding and Marking Guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
