Overview

Jhpiego is seeking a highly motivated Digital Support Intern to join our team in supporting the organization's digital ecosystem spanning IT operations and digital communications platforms. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy individual with a passion for digital communication, content creation, and IT support. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting IT operations while also contributing to the organization's online presence and digital engagement strategy.

This internship offers an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in ICT and digital storytelling within an international development organization.

The internship will initially run for three (3) months beginning July 2026, with the possibility of extension beyond September based on performance, organizational priorities, and available resources.

Responsibilities

IT Support

  • Provide first-line technical support to staff (hardware, software, and network issues)
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment
  • Support troubleshooting of computers, printers, and office software
  • Help maintain IT inventory and documentation
  • Assist in ensuring data security and backup processes

Social Media Management

  • Support the day-to-day management of Jhpiego Kenya’s social media platforms, including LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other emerging platforms.
  • Support the scheduling and publishing of social media content aligned with organizational priorities and campaigns.
  • Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities for audience engagement and visibility.
  • Respond to basic inquiries and escalate sensitive communication issues where necessary.

Content Development

  • Develop engaging social media copy, captions, visuals, photography, and short-form video content.
  • Support coverage of events, campaigns, workshops, and field activities through live posting and digital storytelling.
  • Assist in adapting technical and programmatic information into audience-friendly digital content.
  • Coordinate with program teams to gather photos, testimonials, and success stories.
  • Support basic video recording, photography, and editing for digital campaigns and organizational visibility.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Track and monitor social media performance metrics and engagement analytics.
  • Prepare monthly social media performance reports highlighting growth, engagement, reach, influencer performance, and campaign visibility.
  • Support the interpretation of analytics data to improve content strategy and audience engagement.

Brand Visibility and Campaign Support

  • Support implementation of digital campaigns related to family planning, reproductive health, digital health, and other health priorities.
  • Ensure content aligns with Jhpiego branding and communication guidelines.
  • Assist in identifying innovative ways to increase digital visibility and stakeholder engagement.

Administrative and Coordination Support

  • Provide IT support where needed
  • Support coordination with external vendors, designers, influencers, media partners, and photographers where required.
  • Participate in communications planning meetings and brainstorming sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed) in either: ICT; Computer Science; Information Systems or Communications; Digital Marketing; Public Relations; Journalism; Media Studies; Marketing; Photography / Film Production 
  • Candidates with demonstrated cross-disciplinary skills (e.g., IT and content creation) are strongly encouraged.
  • Basic networking knowledge
  • Familiarity with IT support tools and systems
  • Experience in social media management for a brand, organization, business, or personal portfolio.
  • Understanding of digital communications, influencer engagement, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Training or exposure in social media analytics and reporting tools
  • Basic experience in photography, video recording, and short-form video editing is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Canva, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, X Analytics, CapCut, Adobe Express, or similar tools is desirable.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
