Overview

The Quality Improvement (QI) Support adhoc will support the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of QI activities across health facilities and communities, with a focus on strengthening routine government systems for On Site Support, data use, and continuous quality improvement in service delivery. This role is designed to strengthen government-led QI implementation, support transitioning, and build the capacity of government teams to coordinate and manage QI programs, while sustaining supervision, data use, and improved service quality.

Responsibilities

Support to QI Implementation at LGA, Facility & Community Level

  • Support health facilities and community workers to implement QI activities using 4 Step Methodology
  • Conduct Onsite Supportive Supervision (OSS) and follow-up visits to ensure continuity of improvement activities as assigned by the team
  • Support functionality of Facility QI Teams (FQITs), including regular meetings and documentation & tracking of improvement projects.

Capacity Building & Mentorship Support

  • Support facilitation of QI trainings and on-the-job coaching for healthcare workers and supervisors.
  • Reinforce use of QI tools, job aids, and standard guidelines during supervision and mentoring visits.
  • Support peer-to-peer learning sessions and Supervisors’ Support Meetings (SSMs).

Data Collection, Monitoring & Use

  • Support timely collection, validation, and reporting of QI data from facilities and communities.
  • Assist facilities to use data (e.g., dashboards, registers, HMIS/DHIS2) for identifying gaps and tracking improvements.
  • Track key OSS and QI indicators, including action plan implementation and gap closure.

Strengthening Government Ownership

  • Support coordination of QI activities with LGA and state teams, including planning and implementation of activities.
  • Support engagement with stakeholders (MoH, SPHCDA, LGA teams) to strengthen ownership of QI activities.
  • Facilitate communication between facilities, LGA, and state teams.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Contribute to preparation of routine reports, presentations, and program updates.
  • Maintain records of OSS visits, peer to peer learning, supervisors support meetings and QI project progress.

Required Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in a health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, Community Health).
  • Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in health service delivery or public health programs.
  • Experience working within government health systems at facility or LGA level is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Basic understanding of Quality Improvement Approach and Methodology
  • Experience in supportive supervision, mentoring, or program implementation.
  • Ability to collect, review, and use data for decision-making.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for working with health workers and government teams.
  • Ability to work in a team and support multiple activities across facilities.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data tools).
  • Based within assigned zones/LGAs to support routine QI implementation
