Overview

This position will support the multi-country Scaling the Optimal Use of Multiple ACTs to Prevent Antimalarial Drug Resistance (STOP-AMDR) project. The goal of STOP-AMDR project is to contribute to efforts in protecting the efficacy of existing ACTs thus reducing malaria mortality and case incidence in Africa. The Project will connect operational research and implementation learning with market shaping efforts to steer catalytic change through the adoption of Multiple First-line Therapies (MFTs) as a key strategy to mitigate or slow-down the spread of resistance to artemisinin and partner drugs. 

The project is looking to hire a dedicated and detail-oriented Data Analyst to work with the senior MERL Advisor and project team to achieve project goals efficiently and effectively. This role involves collaborating with project stakeholders to collect and analyze data, develop reports, and offer actionable insights for continuous improvement, ensuring data quality. He/she ensures timely and accurate data management, monitoring, and research data, including analysis, reporting, and verification. He/she will support the development of both paper-based and mobile data collection tools, uphold data management SOPs, conduct routine data quality assessments, and ensure precise entry into project and organizational DHIS databases for donor reporting. 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure facility level data quality through onsite verification of entries on service delivery registers.
  • Support the facility and LGA to correct data errors identified using a systematic approach and tool (change log).
  • Support the monthly data validation, ensuring all data quality dimensions.
  • Ensure that the entries on the service delivery registers in each health facility are correctly entered into the MSF and DHIS2.
  • Support institutionalization and/or strengthening of integrated data management system at the state and LGA level
  • Ensure data concurrence across reporting platforms.
  • Support data analysis and visualization at facility, LGA and State level.
  • Review patient-level data generated on project template and ensure correctness, consistency, completeness, timeliness and track progress in project indicators and results.
  • Provide hands-on capacity building to health facility workers on proper, accurate and comprehensive documentation of services delivered.
  • Support the health providers to review data from their registers to identify gaps and proffer solution.
  • Support research/assessment that will inform project learnings.
  • Participate in meetings and communicate with stakeholders to share progress and get feedback.
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to share with the project team and stakeholders.
  • Address any other M&E related issues as they present.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, social science, statistics, computer science, health informatics or a related field.
  • 5+ years of work experience data management, preferably in a health sector development or malaria related field.
  • Extensive experience and familiarity with national health management information system and/or DHIS2.
  • Proven track record of conducting data analysis and producing high-quality reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Package.
  • Strong ability in implementing research data collection using tools like, Excel, Redcap, Kobocollect
  • Previous work experience in Routine Data Quality Assessment (RDQA)
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work.
  • Familiarity with donor requirements and reporting standards.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Knowledge of local languages and cultural contexts is an advantage.
