In India, Jhpiego partners with national and state governments across various states, providing technical assistance in family planning, maternal and child health, human resources for health, and non-communicable diseases. Our programs are funded by UNICEF, WHO, the University of Manitoba, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers and other esteemed donors.

 

Under the guidance of the Director/Associate Director, the Comms and Knowledge Management Officer will provide professional and technical assistance for designing, planning, and implementing Knowledge Management activities to ensure the overall success and impact of the program/s of Jhpiego in India.

Responsibilities

Technical Assistance and Coordination

  • Coordinate and implement effective knowledge management systems, strategies, and plans.
  • Provide technical inputs for building and managing a central repository of organizational knowledge, including documents, reports, and other relevant materials
  • Ensure regular documentation of the achievements of the program and develop various knowledge products, including reports, lessons learnt, best practices, policy, and advocacy briefs, etc.
  • Coordinate knowledge management and documentation activities across the network for program advocacy
  • Engage with colleagues across the country, as well as with partners, for the production, sharing, utilization, and management of knowledge products
  • Build and maintain relationships with media, partners, and the community to promote various health initiatives

Increasing Project Visibility

  • Ensure the increased visibility of Project achievements among various stakeholders by developing and sharing various knowledge and advocacy products
  • Identify and ideate avenues for disseminating information about the new initiatives, key learnings, and achievements of the project regularly by organizing key events/webinars/ advocacy workshops/Talks/ Dissemination events, etc.
  • Upload updates and knowledge management products on the website, social media, and other planned platforms to improve the visibility of the program within and outside Jhpiego

Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration

  • Coordinate and maintain the repository of all materials to enable cross learning and sharing
  • Build a culture of knowledge sharing within the project team and across departments and through communities of practice, moderating knowledge cafes, brown bag events, webinars, etc.
  • Leverage intranet, email, and organize webinars, etc., for knowledge exchange across departments and staff across the country

Capacity Building

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the knowledge management and communication system and make recommendations for improvement. 
  • Provide capacity building support to staff on knowledge management best practices, including how to capture, store, and share knowledge effectively

Additional Responsibility, if any

  • Support teams in drafting abstracts, reports, presentations, and any other documents to disseminate project outputs and outcomes
  • Ensure timely submission of internal and external reports
  • Perform or assume other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • Masters in communications, public health communication, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in communications, preferably in the public health sector.
  • Experience working with government agencies, donors, and creative agencies, preferably in the development sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communication strategies, producing high-quality communication materials, and managing social media channels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write compelling copy and communicate complex information in an accessible way.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of the Indian healthcare system and public health programs is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is an asset.
