HIV Care & Treatment Assistant

The Reaching Impact Saturation and Epidemic Control (RISE) program is saving lives and improving health by controlling the HIV pandemic and strengthening global health security to limit the spread of deadly disease outbreaks. RISE uses evidence-based practices from over 20 years of PEPFAR implementation to address critical HIV priorities along with global health security (GHS), maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition (MNCH-N), tuberculosis (TB), Malaria, data systems, supply chain and commodity management, and other cross-cutting areas. In Botswana, Jhpiego is recruiting for an anticipated new project supporting Botswana’s lifesaving HIV services.

The HIV Care & Treatment Assistant will be responsible for providing HTS, TB screening, linkage to ART, and ongoing case management. This includes supporting differentiated service delivery (DSD) models, community-based ART distribution, and case tracking for vulnerable populations including pregnant and breastfeeding women and HIV-exposed infants. The Assistant will work with facility teams, peer educators, and community stakeholders to ensure integrated service delivery, retention in care, and effective use of data for decision-making.

• provide HTS services including index testing, self-testing, and targeted community-based testing.
• provide TB screening and referral are integrated into all HIV testing and treatment services.
• Link HIV-positive clients to ART services, ensure ART initiation, and support retention through follow-up.
• Implement of partner notification services and facilitate testing among partners of index clients.
• Conduct follow-up of pregnant and breastfeeding women to promote HIV retesting and partner testing.
• Track HIV-exposed infants (HEIs) to ensure timely testing and linkage to pediatric care where needed.
• Implement of community-based DSD models including multi-month ART dispensing and outreach-based ART delivery.
• Implement community case management for TB/HIV and support referrals and adherence support at the community level.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records including referral registers, partner testing logs, HEI tracking tools, and TB registers.
• Use digital platforms (e.g., WhatsApp, dashboards) to coordinate follow-up and monitor client outcomes.
• Participate in data reviews and prepare monthly reports on HTS, ART linkage, TB/HIV integration, and HEI indicators.
• Ensure compliance with HIV/TB guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), infection, prevention and control (IPC) measures, and confidentiality standards.
• Participate in facility and district coordination meetings, community mobilization activities, and program performance reviews.

• Secondary education (high school) with a certificate or diploma on health related, social sciences, Public Health, Community Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS service delivery, especially HTS, linkage to ART, and/or case management.
• Training in HTS and partner notification
• Experience working with PEPFAR-funded or community-based HIV programs is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work with facility and community teams.
• Demonstrated experience in TB/HIV integration, prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) follow-up, and HEI testing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and messaging tools for data coordination.
• Fluency in English and Setswana is required.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned district.
