Overview

MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership (MCGL), funded by the U.S. Government, is a global mechanism that saves lives and improves access to quality, integrated health services by distributing life-saving commodities, medicines, and vaccines, and providing critical health care services for pregnant mothers and children under five. The project provides safe childbirth for mothers and babies, vaccinates children, treats deadly illnesses and malnutrition, and controls disease outbreaks.  

 

The IT Officer is mainly responsible for maintaining effective ICT service support including maintenance of hardware, software, troubleshooting and networking administration for the project. S/he will ensure all set up works well, all equipment are up to date and ensure sooth IT support during any project event.

Responsibilities

IT Systems Support and Maintenance

  • Provide daily technical support to end-users, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Ensure regular maintenance and updating of hardware, software, and systems.
  • Maintain user systems including laptops, desktops, and tablets, ensuring they are free from viruses and malware.
  • Install, configure, and maintain systems and software that support project operations.
  • Maintain system documentation, configuration records, and standard operating procedures.

Network and Server Administration

  • In coordination with central IT team, manage and support LAN, WAN and network system.
  • Administer and maintain server infrastructure including file, intranet, print, and backup servers.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize network and system performance.
  • Oversee power backup systems (e.g., UPS) and escalate issues related to switches, wireless access points, and firewalls to Global IT.

User and Endpoint Management

  • Join end-user computers to the Azure Active Directory domain.
  • Apply timely system and security updates across user devices.
  • Provide training and support to staff on standard desktop and Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Conduct IT orientation and awareness training for new staff.

Backup, Recovery, and Security

  • Implement and maintain regular, secure backups for all office computers.
  • Develop and execute disaster recovery plan in coordination with central and Global IT team.
  • Report and manage IT security incidents following Jhpiego security protocols.
  • Jointly with central IT team, conduct IT security training and promote best practices among staff.

IT Administration and Compliance

  • Regularly communicate with the central IT team and if necessary, the Global IT team to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to Jhpiego’s IT Service and Change Management processes.
  • Manage and maintain the ICT asset register of the project as per Jhpiego policies.
  • Prepare periodic system and IT compliance reports for review by the Global IT team.

Event and Field Support

  • Provide on-site and remote IT support during project events, training, and workshops.
  • Ensure internet connectivity and necessary digital resources are functional during events.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in ICT support, with prior experience in the development sector preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of networking, desktop/laptop configuration, and troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

Skills and Competencies

 

  • Experience in Windows Server and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Certifications: CompTIA Network+ or CCNA, ITIL Foundation (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, TCP/IP, firewalls, and internet service technologies.
