Overview

MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership (MCGL), funded by the U.S. Government, is a global mechanism that saves lives and improves access to quality, integrated health services by distributing life-saving commodities, medicines, and vaccines, and providing critical health care services for pregnant mothers and children under five. The project provides safe childbirth for mothers and babies, vaccinates children, treats deadly illnesses and malnutrition, and controls disease outbreaks.  

 

The Knowledge Management Advisor will be responsible for helping to strengthen knowledge management to ensure efficient and effective reuse of information internally and externally. S/he is responsible for providing technical support to both organizational and project communications to ensure high quality strategic communications to the U.S. Government/Department of State (USG/DOS) (the donor), in-country stakeholders, and beneficiaries. The major responsibilities include documenting project implementation activities, creating good quality communications products adhering to policy and guidelines set by Jhpiego and USG/DOS and that are sensitive to the Bangladesh context; documenting the process of implementation of key activities; documenting key lessons learned; and preparing communications materials including success stories. S/he will assist with developing reports and presentations according to Jhpiego guidelines for internal program needs and externally for dissemination.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver, and manage a Knowledge Management (KM) strategy and approach for the project.
  • Identify the best dissemination channel(s) to support the reuse of information internally and externally (e.g. Jhpiego’s website, country level and global reports, virtual collaborative exchanges symposiums, e-newsletters, and social media).
  • Identify key audiences for different types of technical information, including internal and external audiences, and target knowledge-sharing efforts to promote knowledge uptake and application.
  • Support organization and project knowledge-sharing efforts by organizing and uploading resources to the team’s internal website, sending relevant resources to Jhpiego headquarters (HQ) for sharing among global program staff, and developing systems for in-country knowledge-sharing practices among program staff.
  • Coordinate with country program and technical staff and HQ Communications Lead to plan virtual cross-MCGL knowledge exchange opportunities.  
  • Leverage Jhpiego’s technology platforms (such as Office 365 and DHIS2) in the appropriate context to expedite knowledge storage, retrieval and exchange.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams to coordinate development of project dissemination plans.
  • Lead documentation of project activities and most significant change stories, with the potential to develop these into formal success stories for broader sharing.
  • Support development, documentation, and dissemination of knowledge management products and ensure they are appropriately and effectively represented in public events.
  • Support the M&E team to provide a framework for the end of project results reporting for all project activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to guide the approach for collecting national, regional, and global level data.
  • Design questions, conduct surveys and interviews, capture and compile photos/video, and develop scripts and document success stories.
  • If required, lead, organize, document and support team to manage media at public events with local media in sensitive to Bangladesh context.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external colleagues and among the project’s local partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social science/communication or relevant discipline
  • At least 7 years of related work experience in knowledge management, communications, documentation, dissemination, or similar work for health projects.
  • Substantial understanding of and interest in KM theory, practice and tools, including experience in determining appropriate KM processes, products, and ICT enabled platforms.
  • Experience working with government, NGOs, donors, and other relevant stakeholders preferred.

Skiils and Competencies

  • Knowledge of graphic design and multimedia communication tools is an advantage
  • Excellent computer, writing, analytical, communication, and organization skills.
  • Excellent oral and written command of both Bangla and English languages.
  • Participate in multiple teams, adopt team spirit, take responsibility for action items assigned, and provide feedback as needed.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to facilitate knowledge-sharing meetings and activities.
  • Ability to work in complex environments with multiple tasks, competing priorities, and short deadlines.
  • A willingness to travel to remote areas; flexibility in accepting work assignments outside normal desk location.
