Overview

MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership (MCGL), funded by the U.S. Government, is a global mechanism that saves lives and improves access to quality, integrated health services by distributing life-saving commodities, medicines, and vaccines, and providing critical health care services for pregnant mothers and children under five. The project provides safe childbirth for mothers and babies, vaccinates children, treats deadly illnesses and malnutrition, and controls disease outbreaks.  

 

The Sub Awards Officer is responsible for providing support to the Sub Awards Manager in the areas of partners’ agreement management, new partner assessment, capacity building and support of partners, preparing agreements, and financial monitoring. S/he will also be responsible for partner capacity building, fund disbursement, and audits as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the partners are complying with Jhpiego and donor policies and procedures
  • Undertaking pre-award assessment of partners
  • Prepare quarterly basis financial reports of partner expenditure and activities
  • Prepare a gap analysis with cost effective plan to address the gaps
  • Support in capacity building of partner (finance) staff
  • Deliver the orientation session of finance staff and partners for new awards
  • Coach the relevant finance and other partner staff as needed
  • Coordinate with other finance units, project leadership team, and global finance and project staff on partner related issues
  • Prepare partner performance reports for finance & grants meetings
  • Finalize monitoring reports of partners and giving feedback
  • Directly participate in preparation of partner contracts and amendments
  • Responsible for preparation of partners’ budgets and phasing of budgets
  • Preparation of partner disbursements, accounting, and tracking partner payments
  • Supporting payables unit in estimating the fund requirement for partners

Required Qualifications

  • At least 4 years’ experience within the finance department of a national or international organization
  • Demonstrated experience managing U.S. Government (USG) (previously USAID)-funded projects
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance/ Business Studies/Accounting or relevant field

Preferred Qualifications

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to analyze complex financial data
  • Practical experience in budgeting and budget management.
  • Solid understanding of financial systems and procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially in Excel
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English
