Overview

The Data officer will perform tracking of all services delivery data and support data collection and or entry into the project and national DHIS2 system. The officer shall undertake data verification on a routine basis to ensure accuracy and consistency of the data submitted. The Data Assistant will be responsible for collecting, managing, organizing, storage, analysis and dissemination of data while ensuring the accuracy of data across various platforms in alignment with the organization goals and standards. The role requires attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and the ability to work with large datasets.

Responsibilities

Data Collection and Management:

  • Design and implement data collection tools (Surveys, forms etc.).
  • Support data collection and entry into the data/information management systems, including databases, spreadsheets and other platforms.
  • Ensure data is appropriately organized, categorized, stored and easily accessible for project reporting.

Data Quality Assurance:

  • Monitor the accuracy, consistency and timeliness of data captured into the organizational databases for decision-making or reporting.
  • Ensure the quality, integrity, and confidentiality of all collected data.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Support in preparing data reports, summaries, and visualizations for program reporting.
  • Conduct basic analysis on datasets and generate findings for further evaluation.
  • Support on the development of dashboards and visuals for program performance monitoring.

Database Management:

  • Assist with the maintenance and updates to databases or data storage systems.
  • Ensure data is consistently updated and checked for errors or inconsistencies.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with other team members to ensure seamless integration of data across departments.
  • Support data-driven decision-making by providing timely and accurate data to relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform other data-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in statistics, demography or related field. A post graduate diploma in a relevant field (M&E, Health Records, Project planning and Management coupled with relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a university degree).
  • At least three years, experience in data analysis preferably health related data
  • Experience working with MOH systems and personnel is an asset
  • Proven computer skills in a data analysis application such as SPSS, Excel or MS Access. Familiarity with DHIS 2 is an asset.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data management, analysis, and reporting;
  • Cooperative, competent, hardworking, flexible and dependable in a multi-cultural, open office situation;
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a positive attitude to work;
  • Effective communicator and team member, instilling trust and confidence;
  • Ability to organize and coordinate information and logistics for programs and activities.
