Through the HPV Vaccine Acceleration Program Partners Initiative (HAPPI), funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Jhpiego is supporting HPV vaccine introduction efforts in Pakistan.

 

Jhpiego seeks a Project Manager, based in Islamabad, to provide support for the implementation of the HAPPI initiative.  The Project Manager will play a key role in overseeing program implementation, ensuring high-quality project management, and coordinating with technical teams, provincial counterparts, and key stakeholders. This position is crucial in driving strategic efforts to enhance HPV vaccine uptake and strengthen immunization programs within Pakistan’s healthcare system.

Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Work with Project Lead to develop project work plan and technical material for advocacy and training.
  • Support the design, analysis, and synthesis of project interventions to ensure they are fit for purpose and relevant to specific contexts in Pakistan.
  • Facilitate contributions from Jhpiego global technical advisors to enhance technical products for the project.
  • Under the guidance of Project Lead, develop program implementation plans, aligned with program proposal, in close collaboration with relevant project team members
  • Harness human, material and financial resources appropriate for the program
  • Work with finance and program staff to develop and track program budgets and to implement activities within approved budgets
  • Ensure continuous monitoring of program activities by working closely with the M&E Manager, as well as timely and accurate evaluation and reporting of progress toward the achievement of program goals and objectives
  • Support the Project Lead in representing the project, present progress, achievements and lessons learned to key stakeholders and partners as needed
  • Develop and monitor risk mitigation plans in collaboration with the team for smooth program implementation. Troubleshoot to prevent and resolve potential problems and review outputs for quality control.
  • Contribute to annual work planning process and monitor its progress
  • Generate program and donor reports in close coordination with the technical team and ensure timely submission
  • Provide timely program updates to Project Lead, Country Director and relevant departments
  • Support the project lead in meetings with concerned departments and partners to brief stakeholders on project updates, including technical working group and government officials
  • Formulate positive and productive working relationships with counterparts from other programs.
  • Contribute to writing or reviewing technical briefs/reports relevant to the program

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health, project management or relevant field with 7-8 years’ experience in program development and implementation of immunization programs, preferably in Pakistan
  • Proven leadership skills and expertise in the management of health programs and program staff and coordination with government partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of sound project management, performance and quality improvement approaches
  • Ability to develop strategic and programmatic plans in cooperation with concerned departments/other stakeholders
  • Comprehensive understanding of evidence-based interventions
  • Ability to develop working relationships with counterparts of varying levels of seniority and backgrounds to implement program activities
  • Strong decision-making skills, team player accustomed to building team capacity, delegating work to team members and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel within the country
