Since 2021, Jhpiego has been supporting the Philippines to strengthen its cervical cancer control and prevention program by improving access to optimal screening and early treatment technologies, continuity of care, and messages on cervical cancer prevention. This was done through innovative health systems strengthening approaches that allow health providers to deliver quality services, empower program managers make evidence-based decisions, primary health facilities build stronger ties with communities of women, and women participate in maintaining their health.
Further, the implementation of Centralized Laboratory Model for HPV DNA Testing (CLAMS) Phase 2 using the centralized and point-of-care testing models aims the scale up the cervical cancer screening using the highly accepted self-sample collection and HPV DNA molecular assay test with genotyping. Local health systems improved coverage through a hub-and-spoke service model that decentralized care while also empowering health providers to deliver timely solutions to daily operational challenges.
In lieu of the expansion of the CLAMS project implementation to other highly urbanized cities in the county (Cebu City and Davao City) and scale up of work setting service delivery model in Taguig City the project aims to strategically streamline the data collection, patient record management & inventory, improve patient compliance and service referral through development of a omprehensive health information system that will track the client’s journey from screening to treatment.
