Overview

Jhpiego, affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, is the global lead for the multi-country, Gavi-funded SHARP project (covering Nigeria, Tanzania, and Côte d'Ivoire), is seeking a dedicated HPV Vaccination Specialist to support the implementation of the integrated HPV vaccination package in Lagos State. The role will involve working collaboratively with the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (SPHCDA), education and community stakeholders, and healthcare providers to ensure successful implementation of the intervention.

Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement

    • Collaborate with the SPHCDA, Ministry of Education, and local community leaders to drive awareness and advocacy for HPV vaccination.
    • Support ongoing coordination with stakeholders identified during preparatory and consultative phases.

Supportive Supervision and Mentorship

    • Conduct regular supportive supervision and on-the-job mentorship for facility staff and school heads to ensure adherence to the project’s intervention standards.
    • Monitor and guide the data collectors and their supervisors during baseline and endline assessments.

Baseline and Endline Implementation

    • Supervise qualitative and quantitative data collection activities and facilitate the quality and accuracy of collected data.
    • Assist in analysing baseline and endline data to provide actionable insights for the project.

Human-Centred Design Workshop

    • Co-facilitate Human-Centered Design (HCD) co-creation workshops with youth and other stakeholders and incorporate some insights/ findings from prior consultative meetings.
    • Drive the co-design of the integrated HPV vaccination and design of adolescent health package.

Monitoring Intervention Roll-Out

    • Oversee the roll-out of integrated HPV vaccination services in health facilities, schools, and communities.
    • Ensure implementation fidelity, track progress, and identify barriers for timely resolution.

Documentation and Reporting and Capacity building

    • Compile insights from supervision, field activities, and HCD workshops into comprehensive reports.
    • Contribute to the finalization of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for HPV service delivery.
    • Organize and deliver targeted training for health workers on the HPV vaccination package and integrated service delivery.
    • Ensure service providers are equipped with the skills and resources necessary for implementation.

Data and Knowledge Management

    • Ensure seamless data flow and monitoring systems at both site and above-site levels.
    • Contribute to the documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and key findings to inform scale-up.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree with 2-5 years experience in program support.
  • Strong experience in public health implementation, particularly vaccination programs.
  • Proven ability to work across multiple sectors (health, education, community).
  • Skills in stakeholder engagement, supervision, mentorship, and data quality management.
  • Familiarity with Lagos State healthcare system and adolescent health programming.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
