Jhpiego is hiring for a position of Program Officer to join the team in Delhi. This critical role will actively engage with the government officials for all our Nursing and Midwifery programs, thereby ensuring the development of a strong and competent nursing-midwifery cadre nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the guidance of the Program Advisor to support and ensure the development of a strong and competent nursing-midwifery cadre nationwide.
  • Work for smooth implementation of annual work plan as per agreed deliverables and respective timelines with your supervisor.
  • Liaison with government officials and other stakeholders for achieving program deliverables and respond promptly to their requests.
  • Take responsibility for writing technical documents such as reports, concept notes, presentations etc. as per the program need.
  • Provide timely progress updates on internal and external action items to the supervisor and program teams.
  • Organize and maintain both electronic and physical files, including reports, presentations, and government communications.
  • Work with Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team for reporting on project related indicators, baselines, targets etc. to meet state and donor requirements.
  • Represent Jhpiego at national and state-level meetings involving government and development partners.
  • Perform other activities, as assigned by the supervisor to achieve organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

Abilities and Skills

  • Strong advocacy skills.
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with government officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in writing technical documents such as training materials and reports.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work with diverse technical team.
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and communication skills (English and Hindi).
  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Flexibility to handle a wide range of tasks and travel up to 30% of the time.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree in any discipline, preferably nursing.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, ideally within the development or NGO sector.
  • Previous experience of working in Nursing programs is desirable
  • Good knowledge of nursing programs and policies in India.
  • Technical knowledge and field experience of implementing large scale public health programs.
  • Effective communication skills are the essentials for this position.
