Overview

Jhpiego is implementing a five-year Urban Health Activity in Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Activity aims to strengthen urban health systems and improve equitable health outcomes among all urban dwellers by working with districts, municipalities, and the Kampala Capital City Authority to provide quality primary healthcare services. It also focuses on optimizing available resources and enhancing private sector capacity to ensure sustainable improvements in health outcomes and a more resilient urban healthcare system. The Activity will address poor quality of care, congestion in public health facilities, uncoordinated referral system, weak community and surveillance structures, limited private sector capacity, and gaps in enabling environment results in poor health outcomes. The project's key expected results include the following: improved access to and use of quality, maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH), nutrition, and malaria services and improved disease outbreak response. 

 

 Purpose of Position 

The Stores Officer is expected to maintain Jhpiego stores including training materials, models, office stationery, copying and binding supplies, inventory, and requisition of materials as needed.  The Stores Officer will prepare materials needed for workshops/training and will ensure that all assets taken from the store are returned. They will work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure smooth running of the stores and will proactively identify gaps and make suggestions for improvement. The stores officer is also responsible for distributing materials to the field offices and tracking stock at the main and sub offices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in receiving all materials and equipment delivered to Jhpiego and document them accurately
  • Assist in issuing all materials and training equipment from the stores and document accordingly
  • Receive and verify the goods and service request and process the same in the system  
  • Ensure all materials received in the store are arranged in an orderly manner 
  • Ensure all training materials are issued and distributed as requested and packed appropriately
  • Check and verify that all training materials are returned in good condition and report to the operations manager in-case of any anomaly 
  • Day to day maintenance of the Jhpiego store and ensures that all materials, models and stationery is properly stored and accounted for through Intelli-track system. 
  • Assist in physical verification of stores inventory and office assets. 
  • Ensure proper tagging of all assets as they are received into the store and other assets in the main and sub office. 
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order of the office.
  • Provides regular feedback to the Operations Manager on routine stores issues.  

Required Qualifications

  • A degree in Business Administration or social sciences.
  • Advanced Computer Skills
  • Minimum four years experience working in stores management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using stores management software such as Intelli-track
  • Experience working with USG funded projects is an added advantage
