Overview

Jhpiego is looking for a creative and dynamic Visual and Graphic Design Officer responsible for creating visually compelling and creative graphic content related to health. The Officer will produce designs for a variety of media including digital and print. This role mainly supports the communication, Knowledge Management and M&E teams to strategically think and produce designs and content that effectively communicate messages and engage the organization’s targeted audience as well as bring concepts to life and enhance the visual brand of our projects at Jhpiego and ensuring that all designs align with Jhpiego’s and donor’s branding and mission.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

 

• Create and Support the production of graphics for print and digital materials, including annual reports, infographics, animated videos, presentations, brochures, flyers, and social media posts.
• Brand Consistency: Maintain a consistent brand identity by adhering to Jhpiego style guides and ensuring visual elements align with the tone, colors, and message.
• Supporting the Ministry of Health in developing and producing content and graphics in the context of emerging diseases, epidemics such as Mpox, outbreaks, and other infectious diseases
• Conceptualize Ideas: Brainstorm and develop creative concepts that resonate with the audience and meet the needs of the project.
• Revise and Refine Designs: Accept feedback from stakeholders and revise improve the final product.
• Multimedia Support: Provide support for multimedia projects, such as basic video editing, animations, or interactive graphics as needed.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs are high-quality, free from errors, and ready for publication.
• Collaborate with communications and Knowledge Management team to develop design concepts that communicate messages effectively.
• Assist in managing design-related tasks and timelines to support project goals.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in fine Arts, IT, Communication, Public health or related fields.
• Minimum of 5-6 years of relevant experience in graphic design, preferably in a non-profit or health-related context with a portfolio showcasing a variety of projects, experience in USAID funded projects would be an added value.

• Design Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design tools.
• Typography and Layout: A solid understanding of typography, layout, and color theory.
• Attention to detail: Keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to precision.
• Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to understand client needs and present ideas effectively.
• Strong command of the English, Kinyarwanda languages.

• The role is based in Kigali, Rwanda with potential travels to other provinces.
