Jhpiego Kenya is looking to engage a Creative Designer/Graphic Designer on a retainer contract. The engagement will be on a need basis based on specific job assignments. The Creative Designer will provide creative guidance, product design and art direction, including standardizing and regulating the cross functional Brand Style Guidelines to ensure the content is consistently relevant and on-brand. Furthermore, the Creative Designer will take the lead in storyboard for animation and social layouts with a keen sense of typography.

 

The Graphic Designer/artist will be responsible for the effective and efficient throughput of designs. The designer will understand the high expectations defined by our communications team to create unique designs for each project, presentation, season, event and promotion.

Responsibilities

Creative Designer 

  • Bring visions to life that can be presenting to a larger audience 
  • Organize information particularly layout design, infographics, and general organization of information in a captivating and informative way 
  • Transform and extend existing visual brand guidelines to new storytelling formats 
  • Develop creative concepts and designs that align with the brand identity and messaging

 

Graphic Design 
 

  • Design of graphic layouts to ensure they meet the needs of the end users, this includes typesetting, conceptualizing of ideas 
  • Conceptualize and produce online and offline collateral including project visual identity, brochures, print, information sheets, PowerPoint presentations and more. 
  • Formulate forward-thinking concepts and render designs for multimedia campaigns while always elevating the Jhpiego Kenya brand 
  • Responsible for the design and production of a diverse range of graphic, print, and digital media collateral
  • Develop comprehensive multimedia campaigns
  • Create multimedia content, including photos, and infographics, to enhance storytelling and engage audiences across different channels

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstratable experience in design
  • Must be proficient in: PowerPoint, Keynote, Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, Photoshop, Illustrator or good old-fashioned Pen & Paper 
  • Able to create dynamic presentations with animation 
  • Enjoy creating a vision that others describe to you, and are an expert at bringing that vision to life for presenting to a larger audience 
  • Ability to organize information (e.g., layout design, infographics, general organization) 
  • Ability to transform and extend existing visual brand guidelines to new storytelling formats 
  • Experience in graphic design is required
  • Fluency in current graphic design practices particularly the latest Adobe Creative Suite package (working on Apple Mac) or another related field required
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work within a dynamic and collaborative team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
