Overview

Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University. Jhpiego works with health experts, governments, and community leaders to provide high-quality health care for their people.

Jhpiego works closely with the Department of Health to help the country meet its commitments to the cervical cancer elimination global strategy through the Centralized Laboratory Model for HPV Screening (CLAMS) Project. The CLAMS Project supports increasing access to optimal early diagnosis and treatment technology (HPV screening and thermal ablation) through the demonstration of centralized laboratory testing modes in highly urbanized cities.

 

Jhpiego seeks 2 Regional Coordinators who will support the implementation of technical assistance strategy in the cities of Cebu or Davao. The regional coordinator will provide technical, leadership, administrative and logistical support to ensure the timely and optimal conduct of capacity strengthening, demand generation, advocacy, learning, reporting and recording activities in CLAMS project hubs in Cebu/Davao. S/he will also liaise with DOH regional and local program managers to ensure project synergy with regional and local cervical cancer control and management priorities. The position directly contributes to improved access to optimal cervical cancer elimination services and technology. 

 

Responsibilities

Based in local government unit /health unit, the regional coordinators will work closely with the project officer and country program manager to perform the following:

  • Roll out and implement of all identified project activities that support the accomplishment of project objectives;
  • Assist in the implementation, tracking and monitoring of capacity strengthening, demand generation and sensitization, advocacy, and service deliver demonstration activities;
  • Participate in evaluation and assessment activities with the goal of improving project outcomes;
  • Manage relationships with civil society partners and other key community groups;
  • Assist in the training, coaching, mentoring of health care providers and provide routine support throughout the project lifetime;
  • Shall provide field-level input in the preparation of project reports including documentation of all activities, technical processes and project learnings;
  • Maintain close coordination with DOH regional program managers, local health program managers, project hub data focal and coordinator to efficient implementation of project activities, maximal collaboration with partners and other relevant stakeholders, and alignment of priorities for improved cervical cancer prevention outcomes;
  • Engage civil society and all relevant health sector stakeholder to ensure integration of cervical cancer elimination in local, regional, national level efforts for cervical cancer elimination and improvement of women’s health outcomes in general;
  • Performs other tasks as maybe assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in paramedical field and other allied health services, community development and social work, social sciences, public health, public administration, development studies and other related fields;
  • At least with 3 years’ demonstrated experience in project management and coordination, networking and partner engagement, community-empowerment and mobilization programs, adult learning and health workforce development at the subnational and local levels. Experience in direct implementation of service delivery interventions is an advantage;
  • Technical knowledge on at least 2 of the following fields women’s sexual and reproductive health rights, public health and health systems strengthening approaches, cervical cancer prevention strategies, infectious disease prevention and non-communicable disease program;
  • Familiarity with the Philippine health care delivery system and governance mechanisms is an advantage;
  • Ability to work with autonomy and responsibility, and collaborating with a team;
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills is a must;
  • Ability to travel within country.
