Overview

DISC/Jhpiego partnership will leverage existing MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership-GBV project resources while utilizing additional resources from the DISC to address key gaps around DMPA-SC/SI service delivery, capacity building, demand generation, supply chain, and data management that the project has identified in its support to SMOH to roll out DMPA-SC/SI. The DISC/Jhpiego MCGL collaboration will facilitate scaling up DMPA-SC/SI in Sokoto State and improve access and utilization of the comprehensive range of FP services at facility and community levels.  

The State Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and implementing DMPA-SC/SI programs in Sokoto state. This role involves developing strategies, coordinating activities, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality self-injection services to beneficiaries at the health facility and community level. The coordinator works closely with healthcare professionals, community organizations, and clients to promote reproductive health of women through DMPA-SC/SI uptake across the 23 LGAs of Sokoto state. 

Responsibilities

  • Successful candidate will work closely with the Technical Lead Service Delivery and Demand Generation, Evaluation and Learning Advisor and other project staff .
  • Liaise with the State and LGAs FP coordinators to develop, implement, and evaluate DMPA-SC/SI programs and services in Sokoto state. 
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure the availability and accessibility of self-injection resources in Sokoto state.  
  • In Collaboration with State and LGAs FP coordinator, organize and conduct Empathy- based training workshops for healthcare providers and community volunteers on self-injection. 
  • Monitor self-injection program performance and outcomes, using data to make informed decisions and improvements. 
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote DMPA-SC/SI services. 
  • Organize and participate in community outreach events, workshops, and informational sessions on self-injection. 
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of self-injection program activities and client interactions. 
  • Advocate for the inclusion of self-injection in local health agendas and policies. 
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of self-injection programs and activities. 
  • Prepare reports on self-injection program performance, client outcomes, and community impact. 
  • Manage budgets, grants, and funding sources related to DMPA-SC/SI activities in Sokoto state. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Social Work, or a related field. 
  •  Minimum of 6 years of experience in family planning, reproductive health, or a related field. 
  •  Experience in program management and community outreach is highly desirable. 
  • Strong knowledge of family planning and reproductive health. 
  • Experience in working with diverse and multi-diciplinary teams, excellent in Time
    management and organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and community organizations. 
  • Proficient in data analysis and program evaluation. 
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills. 
  • Strong facilitation skills 
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
