In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, strengthening human resources for health, and non-communicable diseases. These programs are funded by USAID, Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, UNICEF, World Health Organization, University of Manitoba, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and others.

 

Jhpiego is hiring for the position of Team Lead - Nutrition who will be responsible to provide technical support at National and State level to support the Nutrition programs, especially Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB). The position will provide techno-managerial support to increase the capacity of the States/UTs to meet the AMB targets and other nutritional indicators to transform the lives of millions of people by improving the overall status of nutrition in the country.

Responsibilities

  • Leading development and periodic updating of the overall project strategy for improving nutritional indicators and achieving Anemia Mukt Bharat targets
  • Nodal person for all planning, monitoring, research and training activity related to the project
  • Ensure representation on appropriate steering and advisory groups and contribute to priority setting and policy development as appropriate.
  • Responsible for developing the initial concept note, collate information reports, data, budgets, and background materials for developing proposals in coordination with program division & State Program Representatives in the nutrition vertical
  • Responsible for support in preparing the Road-map for Anemia and comprehensive nutrition program
  • Based on situational analysis and rapid assessment in piloting States for a focused intervention for nutrition related identified issues/gaps
  • Organizing quarterly/ half yearly review and recommend amendments in activities aligned to the improvement plan
  • Regular review and monitoring of the program progress and tracking budget utilization for assigned states
  • Liaise with various State Government Departments, Local Organizations, and other stakeholders
  • Lead, manage and coordinate the Nutrition team
  • Support the drafting of a Communication Strategy at State level for the program
  • Prepare the action plan for scaling up of innovations to all states and policy level recommendations
  • Preparation of operational guidelines, white papers, policy notes for the programme
  • Provide periodic synopsis of progress in states using data and field findings as a means of technical support and programme oversight
  • Undertake other assignments, which may be assigned from time to time by the Reporting Authority Support in development of various reports and other documents as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s / PHD degree in Nutrition/ Public Health/ Health System Management/ Social Sciences/ and/or a related field At least 7-10 years of experience in communications, preferably in the public health sector.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of work experience at national/state level with NGOs, and/or UN agencies working with public health, and/or nutrition-related programs
  • Experience working with government agencies, donors, and creative agencies, preferably in the development sector.
  • Excellent communicator and are able to collaborate across units and geographies successful
  • Engage with multidisciplinary team and provide technical program solving insights
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent liaising skills with stakeholders and program management
  • Willingness to travel to states & districts to provide technical assistance & ability to work on different assignments simultaneously to meet the timelines for assignments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of the Indian healthcare system and public health programs is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is an asset.
