Jhpiego is hiring for the position of International Midwifery Educators in India for a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded project. The position will work closely with Colleges of Nursing, their attached clinical sites and other health care providers as part of an inter-professional collaborative team. The overall aim is to prepare midwifery educators and midwives at par with ICM standards that will support the implementation of the government-led program to establish midwifery services to global standards across the country.
In 2018, the Government of India (GoI) took a landmark policy decision to support the introduction of a new cadre of midwives, The Nurse Practitioner Midwife (NPM), into the existing health system by training nurses to be midwives. These midwives would be trained to global standards through a cascade approach, first developing midwife educators at national level institutions, who would then train graduate nurses at State level institutes to become midwives and provide midwifery-led care at various levels of the health system. Jhpiego is supporting the Government of India (GoI) along with other international agencies in the roll-out and implementation of this national initiative.
Jhpiego is a non-profit global health leader and Johns Hopkins University affiliate that is saving lives, improving health and transforming futures.
