Overview

Temporary COVID-19 Ventilator Facility Level Assessment Data Collection Team Member needed to support a critical care health facility assessment in selected healthcare facilities, designed to assess capacity to absorb and use donated ventilators to support management of clients requiring ventilation due to COVID-19.  The assessment will inform the provision of targeted technical assistance (e.g. training, mentorship) for COVID-19 critical care and will cover intensive care and oxygen infrastructure at a set of designated facilities.  Under the guidance of the Technical Coordinator, the Data Collector will be responsible for conducting onsite or virtual facility visits, interviewing relevant providers including intensive care unit physicians, anesthesia providers, ICU nurses and biomedical engineers, completing the tool on paper and then enter the data into an online data repository.  Once the assessments are completed, the Data Collector will contribute to preparation of a report analyzing assessment results, making recommendations, and present the findings to relevant stakeholders.

 

Duration of Position:  1 month, with possibility of extension

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Technical Coordinator and technical team leads to coordinate implementation of all aspects of a facility assessment in identified facilities in Ecuador
  • Conduct the assessments in person or virtually
  • Ensure that all assessment results are entered into the online data repository
  • Create and maintain study files and assure the security and confidentiality of all study documents
  • Provide regular updates, both written and verbal, to the Technical Coordinator and national team, as appropriate
  • Comply with Jhpiego and JHU operational policies and regulations

 

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Graduate degree and/or experience in medicine with a focus on anesthesia, pulmonology and/or intensive care
  • Ability to work and communicate well within a team, results-oriented and  strong decision-making skills
  • Practical knowledge of assessment data management and quality assurance
  • Ability to travel to provinces as required to ensure effective assessment implementation and quality assurance
  • Ability to work independently and to exercise independent judgment
  • Ability to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills in local languages and in English
  • Working knowledge of descriptive statistics
  • Experience with visual presentation of data in various media
  • Familiarity with available systems and sources of information in country health system and their limitations is very useful
