Senior Program Coordinator/East Africa will work in close collaboration with the Program Officer, Finance Manager, Country Team and representatives from different Jhpiego departments (e.g., Contracts Management Compliance Division [CMCD], Finance, Travel, Global Programs) to support the successful implement of projects in East Africa. The Senior Program Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative, organizational, contractual and programmatic support to country projects. The exact support needed will vary by project, but will include: tracking and processing contracts, participating in project meetings and taking notes, supporting procurement needs, maintaining project files, documents and systems for organizing information, reviewing/editing reports and contributing to the overall Jhpiego East Africa Portfolio.


Provide organizational support to all country projects

• Share relevant templates/documents/guidance on shared sites (Teams, SharePoint)
• Post and update tracking sheets for projects when relevant on Team Sites
• Participate in HQ Country Ops Teams Meeting
• Attend GPO and East Africa Portfolio #3 meetings

Provide administrative support to all country projects

• Organize travel for country staff (hotels, airport transfers, conference registration, etc.)
• Manage procurements done through HQ, including quote approval, status updates through process, and confirmation of delivery
• Support in-country staff with procurement process for local procurements, including BVS development and approvals needed Support presentations when necessary with setting up call-in lines,

   ordering food, etc.
• Pay invoices through SAP
• Update CRM with project achievements monthly
• Assist in onboarding new SPCs & training in how to use Jhpiego systems

Support contractual/ agreement requirements of all country projects

• Support in drafting and reviewing subagreements, joint implementation plans, and technical service agreements
• Route documents for approval and signature in a timely manner
• Maintain records of all fully executed documents

Provide programmatic support all country projects

• Attend project meetings and calls
• Record and share topics discussed and action items following meetings

Required Qualifications

• BA degree or equivalent; Specialty in public health preferred
• 1-2 years working/studying/volunteering internationally
• Interest in global public health
• Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
• Proficiency in writing and editing letters, reports and documents
• Ability to interact skillfully and diplomatically with numerous counterparts, both domestically and internationally
• Strong decision-making skills and results-oriented approach
• Aware of and sensitive to working in multiple socio-economic settings and with multi-cultural groups in a developing country environment
• Very strong organizational skills
• Very good writing skills
• Team player
• Good communication skills with diverse groups
• Problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred: Strong experience with Office 365 – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Team Sites
• Experience living, working, or studying overseas
