  • Overview

    Sr. Knowledge Management (KM) Advisor will work with Jhpiego teams worldwide to harness the organizational structure to connect people and link critical knowledge to practice via KM activity design and implementation, technical assistance, capacity building, and south-to-south collaboration. Sr. KM Advisor will be responsible for strategic planning and coordinating implementation of a global knowledge management vision in partnership with Jhpiego teams.  Sr. KM Advisor will also develop, lead, and oversee implementation of strategies and tools to foster knowledge sharing across the organizanization with a range of audiences focused on priority areas of learning.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Routinely assess and understand the needs of different knowledge users within Jhpiego
    • Develop and implement mechanisms to leverage the Jhpiego portfolio structure to accelerate sharing of innovations, best practices, and must-know information
    • Work with the portfolios to develop and implement a strategic and innovative KM vision and strategy for Jhpiego, including guidance, policy, and standards to maintain effective program KM, with specifics for HQ and field staff, individual departments, and varying staff roles
    • Implement a structured capacity building and mentoring program for field KM focal persons, and motivate and mentor additional KM champions to build staff KM capabilities
    • Support Jhpiego country offices and global programs in developing and implementing country- and project-specific KM plans and documentation and dissemination plans
    • Operationalize ideas already identified for KM such as implementing country-to-country sharing mechanisms, supporting communities of practice, and promoting the use of Delve profiles, etc.
    • Oversee reorganization and content management of Jhpiego’s SharePoint-based intranet platform, ensuring that resources are easily available and accessible to all staff
    • Design, develop, and monitor a process for continually identifying, curating, packaging and disseminating critical knowledge across the organization
    • Coordinate with portfolios the implementation, monitoring, and continued improvement of knowledge-exchange mechanisms and platforms for sharing ideas, collaborating on work, and communicating results
    • Promote behavior change at all levels to drive knowledge sharing
    • Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of the annual KM workplan
    • Develop and track metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of KM strategies and use data to adapt workplans
    • Collaborate closely with IT to ensure that Jhpiego as the network and software support required to meet organizational KM goals
    • Facilitate an intra-Jhpiego KM working group to ensure all departments are in alignment for Jhpiego’s KM goals and efforts
    • Organize and facilitate knowledge-sharing meetings, webinars, and other KM-related events
    • Provide inputs to inform KM in program design and start-up of new Jhpiego programs

     

    Required Qualifications

    • 10 years of experience and proven track record of designing and implementing a successful KM system in an international organization
    • Advanced degree in organizational development, communications, public health, or related field
    • Up-to-date knowledge of communications and KM technologies and standards and an understanding of the constraints and benefits of different technologies
    • Experience in building capacity among peers for developing knowledge-sharing products and leading knowledge-sharing activities
    • Familiarity with the international public health sphere, donor organizations, and public health issues
    • Experience developing and managing teams
    • Ability to work in complex environments with competing priorities, and short deadlines
    • Results-oriented, strategic thinker, and driven to innovate
    • Ability to launch, grow, and manage new initiatives
    • Able to coordinate, partner with, and building consensus among a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
    • Demonstrated experience in strategic leadership to foster and institutionalize KM and learning systems to improve performance and close knowledge gaps
    • Experience in knowledge capture, organization, synthesis, effective dissemination, and re-use to meet the needs of a wide variety of stakeholders
    • Demonstrated ability to provide quality control over KM and learning systems including online platforms and learning approaches
    • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills in English
    • Strong change management and decision-making skills
    • Fluency in a second language (French, Spanish or Portuguese) is preferred
    • Ability to travel to internationally
