  • Overview

    The Learning Management System Specialist is responsible for support and administration of the web-based learning management system (LMS) for a Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) training program maintained by the RISE Project. This position is responsible for the management, administration, and operation of the LMS including providing database management, maintaining user records, providing technical support to learners, troubleshooting system issues, training new and existing users on how to fully utilize the system and serving as a technical resource on the LMS.  The Specialist will serve as the main point of contact for the region, and work closely with the SuperAdmin for Cornerstone based in the US. This full time position will be based in South Africa (with an option to work either in the Jhpiego South Africa office, or remotely if preferred) and report to Jhpiego’s Senior Regional VMMC Advisor (based in Kenya).   South African nationals or others with local SA residency strongly encouraged to apply; expatriate salary packages will not be offered.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for setting up the Cornerstone LMS for each new training session which includes creating new self-registration forms, configuring curricula, events, etc.
    • Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking assistance with the LMS
    • Support the system and user requirements based on how LMS users will be accessing and using the system
    • Maintain the reporting and custom reporting for all countries
    • Manage the requirements; analyze them, and communicate the effectiveness to ensure the system design fits the needs of the users
    • Quality control testing and launching of new / revised LMS SCORM course content in various formats and the archiving of outdated content
    • Assist in transition of content to new Cornerstone Learn mobile app
    • Stay up-to-date on the Cornerstone LMS system upgrades and changes
    • Ensure eLearning requirements for mobile and offline use are adhered to
    • Support and troubleshoot the Cornerstone Connect functionality as well as the mobile app preferences to simplify the learners work flow through the system
    • Oversee and provide daily LMS support to all users including management of LMS security and access for new users
    • Collaborate with HIV technical experts, instructional designers, and web developers to ensure the LMS is accessible and functioning successfully
    • Maintain and operate various technologies used in the delivery of instructional and/or interactive programs and courses
    • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and LMS trends
    • Assist with various projects and research as requested
    • Support other ad hoc requests as needed related to LMS applications and testing

     

     

     

    Required Qualifications

    • BA in Education, Business Administration, Information or Instructional Technology, Organization Development, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, or related field 
    • Strong analytical and product knowledge skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret learner needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
    • Direct experience working with the Cornerstone LMS system strongly preferred
    • SCORM/AICC and eLearning course authoring (Storyline, Lectora, HTML 5) experience preferred
    • Working knowledge of additional eLearning content creation software, 508 compliance, or other LMS applications
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • 5+ years of Learning Management System (LMS) experience required, with 8 years of overall combined systems experience preferred
    • Extensive experience in user acceptance testing and requirements documentation
    • Experience in user design and creating eLearning and websites for mobile applications and responsive design
    • Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
    • Hands on experience with web applications and programming language such as HTML and CSS
    • Experience with working with database systems such as MS Access or MySQL
    • Strong analytical, technical skills and comfortable with data management
    • Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills, organizational skills, with a problem-solving attitude and as a self-starter who works both independently and as a collaborative team player
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Excellent written and verbal English skills
