  • Overview

    Project Director is responsible for leading a PEPFAR/ CDC funded project. Application deadline: July 13, 2019

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the technical direction and management oversight with the deputy Project Director in the areas of HIV testing, prevention, linkage to care, and treatment, viral suppression and retention, and DREAMS initiatives for adolescent girls and young women
    • Ensure that project implementation strategies, interventions and approaches are implemented with fidelity and in accordance with the latest evidence, policies, best practices, guidelines, and are PEPFAR and donor compliant.
    • Support the deputy Project Director to provide strategic leadership and direction and management of district teams to achieve project targets, whilst driving innovative approaches for a highly targeted approach to HTS
    • Ensuring facilities supported by the project are performing as centers of excellence.
    • Use data driven approach to problem solve, strategize and focus interventions, and ensure that local sub-partners perform according to their agreement, whilst enhancing their capacity to deliver with the project team.
    • Represent the project and ensure effective collaboration with the donor and Ministry of Health (MOH) to ensure alignment with their priorities.
    • Ensure timely and cost-effective project implementation and reporting, and will ensure that the project delivers on scope, on schedule and on budget.
    • Supervise a team of highly qualified staff and will report to the Country Director and may act on occasions in her absence

    Required Qualifications

    • Clinical background required (MD or nursing);
    • Master’s degree in public health, or equivalent required;
    • 10 years’ experience in HIV programming (including implementation) in HIV testing, prevention, care and treatment programs in Malawi;
    • Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex and multi-layered USG-supported HIV project and budgets.
    • 8 + years' experience designing and managing complex HIV/AIDS prevention programs
    • Experience of working under PEPFAR funded programs, and USG donor’s regulations;
    • Experience of supervising, supporting and coaching staff in all aspects related to HIV prevention, care and treatment;
    • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Malawi’s healthcare systems and solid experience of working in Malawi and understanding of the country context in particular within the HIV programming context;
    • Sensitive to issues working with marginalized groups within the Malawi context;
    • Proven leadership skills and expertise in strategic program planning, implementation and management;
    • Highly articulate in written and spoken English with effective communication skills, instilling trust and confidence, and excellent interpersonal and written and oral presentation skills;
    • Ability to work in a complex environment charged with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform;
    • Motivated, passionate, and hardworking
    • Proven experience in writing abstracts.
    • Ability to travel within Malawi and internationally.
