  • Overview

    Supply Chain Coordinator will manage Jhpiego’s VMMC Supply Chain activities, including the planning, coordinating, delivery, and waste management of VMMC surgical kits and commodities.    


    This position will be based in Durban


    Only candidates with South African work authorization will be considered.



    • Organize, track, plan and manage forecasts for VMMC commodities
    • Maintain routine transparent and professional communication with all clients and end users to ensure timely and consistent delivery of orders
    • Coordinator and oversee vendors; ensure routine strategic communication
    • Develop, maintain and manage detailed records of commodity levels, forecasted needs, and delivery plans
    • Provide routine and as needed reports of orders, deliveries, and stock levels
    • Provide training and capacity building to end users to assist them to improve abilities to plan and manage stock levels on site
    • Immediately and appropriately respond to any incidents or bottlenecks that arise in the supply chain, to ensure supplies are consistently available
    • Support tracking and management of supply chain invoices and payments
    • Maintain continuous communication with operations and clinical staff to ensure supply needs, delivery schedules, and stock levels are closely coordinated
    • Plan, track and manage schedules for collection of VMMC waste
    • Ensure the integrity of supply accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports
    • Identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies and ensure inventory and system records are in agreements

    Required Qualifications

    • BA in supply chain management, logistics or related field
    • 7+ years’ experience in the field, ideally in the health and/or NGO sector
    • 3+ years' proven working experience managing a complex supply chain ideally at a national level
    • High degree of self-motivated organizational ability. Detail oriented with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office - including (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and outlook)
    • Strong communication skills and proven ability to maintain high level of professional communication to manage the internal and external stakeholder expectations
    • Familiarity with USG funded health programs is a plus
    • Strong Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety
    • Proven record of successful distribution and logistics management
    • Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff
    • Proficient in standard logistics software
    • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Good personal presentation
    • Ability to make decisions under pressure
    • Good commercial and business understanding
    • Working knowledge of various types of telecommunication equipment.
    • Experienced in working in a multicultural environment
    • Familiar with Workplace Safety and Environmental factors
    • Ability to foster team oriented goals
    • Valid Driver License
