  • Overview

    The Program Manager - Post-Pregnancy Family Planning (PPFP) Choices Study's primary role will be to support implementation and oversight of the Jhpiego/Indonesia PPFP Choices study.  This project aim is to research the acceptability and feasibility of immediate postpartum family planning in Indonesia.  Project activities include strengthening of the quality PPFP counseling and services, and expansion of method choice during antenatal and early labor, as well as pre-discharge periods.  This position will be based in Jakarta.  The PPFP Choices Study will focus on four following major objectives:

    1. Establish a comprehensive program implementation framework for the private sector to embrace PPFP
    2. Improve the quality of PPFP counseling and service provision in both public and private sectors
    3. Build evidence and contribute to the literature and programmatic guidance around PPFP uptake and continuation in both public and private sectors
    4. Ensure effective documentation and strategic dissemination which will benefit PPFP introduction and scale-up more broadly

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Develop and manage program work plans and budget in liaison with the Research & Evaluation Director, Family Planning Team Lead, Technical team, Finance and Administration team, and Headquarters
    • Constant evaluation of project spending, burn rate and reconciling the budget against outstanding invoices
    • Work closely with the Finance and Administration Director to track program budgets and ensure that program finances and documentation are according to Jhpiego standards
    • Ensure all finance and administration side of PPFP Choices Study is following Jhpiego requirements
    • Coordinate routine report writing (quarterly etc.) for headquarter/donors between Jhpiego My Choice and PPFP Choices teams
    • Liaise closely with the Research and Evaluation Director and Sr. MER advisor at home office to ensure the integrity of the study
    • Assist the Research and Evaluation Director in reviewing report from research team from Gadjah Mada University on the study findings and their implications on strategic planning
    • Ensure all activities within the data collection scope of work for research team from Gadjah Mada University adheres with the planning and following the study protocol and study field guide
    • Work with District Clinical Officer and research team from Gadjah Mada University to coordinate data collection, ensure routine reporting, and monitor project progress and challenges
    • Coordinate training of data collectors in coordination with research team from Gadjah Mada University and HQ
    • Coordinate with My Choice Program Manager for contract and finance matters
    • Closely monitor progress toward achieving work plan target, budget tracking and quality reporting
    • Troubleshoot to prevent and resolve potential programmatic problems
    • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and donors in country and region
    • Develop program reports with the Research and Evaluation Director and Family Planning Team Lead or any other documentation requested by the donor; and
    • Document program processes, successes, challenges, and lessons learned and inform  Jhpiego Jakarta and Headquarters offices regularly
    • Coordinate content development for external communications pieces about the project

    Required Qualifications

    • BA with 6 years' progressively responsible and directly relevant experience
    • Advanced degree and experience in research or program management will be advantage preferred
    • Ability to ensure adherence ethical principles regarding research
    • Fluent in spoken and written English is a must
    • Good interpersonal skills, team work and excellent analytical, oral and report writing, and interpersonal skills
    • Computer literacy
    • Strong experience in Malaria knowledge, skills, other communicable diseases and basic understanding of malaria and Health related issues, with a national focus is necessary
    • Excellent understanding of USAID programs and experience working with MOH systems and personnel
    • Excellent verbal, written report, communication and presentation skills
