  • Overview

    Demand Generation Coordinator will be tasked with planning, organising and leading the entire Jhpiego VMMC demand creation strategies (marketing and communication) for both the KZN and Western Cape provinces.

     

     

     

    Responsibilities

    Planning and Implementation of Demand Creation Processes   

    • Identify, plan and organise innovative VMMC demand creation strategies in line with PEPFAR, DoH and Jhpiego guidelines for the entire organisation

    • Develop VMMC innovative communication messages which are appropriate to specific age groups, geographic areas, races and cultures within the VMMC target group

    • Utilised current and reliable data to conduct periodic mapping of all Jhpiego VMMC service districts for effective and efficient implementation of DC activities

    • Develop an annual DC plan which will respond to the VMMC challenges on summer and winter seasons to ensure consistency of client supply throughout the year

    • Assist demand creation officers to develop monthly district plans

    • Assist demand creation officers in appropriate allocation of linkage navigators and mobilizers to ensure maximum coverage

    • Ensure that teams complies with Jhpiego demand creation procedures including documentation, reporting and sticking to deadlines

    Program Marketing & Communications                

    • Liaise with Jhpiego HQ team to ensure proper consistent utilization of organization’s brand in relevant organizational supported programs activities in ensuring Jhpiego recognition and visibility
    • The marketing professionals may interface with outside agencies to direct activities or supervise internal marketing staff, supporting them in their assigned duties
    • Analyzing potential strategic partner relationships for company marketing
    • Oversee and direct all marketing for the company
    • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant departments functions are kept informed of marketing objectives
    • Develop the marketing strategy for the company in line with company objectives
    • Co-coordinating marketing campaigns
    • Managing the intranet, internal and external communications
    • Keep abreast with the relevant HIV/AIDS and other health report and awareness
    • Supervise internal communication staff, supporting them in their assigned duties
    • Participating in Right to Care media conferences and function

    Engagement of Traditional Sector, Work Place and Other Stakeholders

    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of traditional systems within the Jhpiego districts
    • Demonstrate ability to be actively involved in the traditional district activities through compliance to traditional values and expectations
    • Identify opportunities for Jhpiego to support/provide VMMC services through development of partnership with traditional sector
    • Identify and work in collaboration with relevant demand creation partners at DoH, NGOs and private sector for effective and efficient mobilisation strategies
    • Engage with factories, companies, mines and agriculture sector in implementation of concrete plan targeting men for VMMC services
    • Work with tertiary institutions in ensuring provision of VMMC services
    • Capacitate and improve local NGOs/FBOs partnered with Jhpiego in social mobilisation to have efficient management systems

    Staff Management         

    • Lead and manage the entire Jhpiego demand creation staff
    • Work with staff to set performance objectives to be evaluated during staff annual performance appraisals
    • Participate in the Jhpiego demand creation staff recruitment processes in collaboration with HR
    • Conduct relevant coaching, mentoring and educating demand creation staff by proving and organizing relevant initial and refresher trainings
    • Work with M&E department to implement performance management system for the demand creation staff which will be evaluated periodically
    • Provide any relevant technical support to demand creation teams  

    Required Qualifications

    • 3+ years’ experience on social behaviour change communication, demand creation, marketing and/or community organizing
    • 2+ years' successful VMMC mobilisation experience with traditional sector, work place, tertiary and other adult male dominated areas within South Africa
    • Demonstrated use of population demographics to plan community activities
    • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently, under pressure and efficiently
    • Proficiency in local languages                                                                                     
    • Sound interpersonal skills and must be able to engage with MMC stakeholders, community, traditional and political leaders
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

    • Previous people management experience and ability
    • Ability to network at events
    • Demonstrated leadership ability
    • Preparedness to travel up to 90% of the time nationally
    • Valid driver’s license
