Technical Advisor provides technical expertise, management, coordination and support supervision of RH/FP/MNCH activities within the Jhpiego led HEMAYAT project, and ensure maximum integration of project activities across partners and within technical areas. Responsibilities include program development, work plan development and presentation, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, business development, materials development and knowledge management.  The Technical Advisor will also work with DCOP to ensure strong collaboration between Jhpiego and local governments, donors and sponsors. 


  • Manage the project's RH/FP/MNCH technical implementation, ensuring maximum integration of all activities
  • Work in close coordination with the DCOP, Technical Director and Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Director to ensure quality implementation of programs. This includes assisting with development of work plans, liaising with partners, Ministry staff and donors regarding implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs
  • Provide program support to the technical team leads; including helping prepare proposals and budgets
  • Support the communication and program teams to review the program reports, success stories and other program documents
  • Help research, write and compile program information and statistics for internal use. Write sections of selected proposals and renewals
  • Work collaboratively with finance staff to prepare and track the progress of project and activity budgets
  • Facilitate technical assistance needed to execute project work plans, which may include external consultants
  • Ensure timely, accurate and appropriate reporting of program activities and results to the donor
  • Ensure compliance with Jhpiego operational policies and regulations
  • Travel as appropriate to program sites to assist in program logistics, including financial arrangements, equipment and supply coordination and travel arrangements
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues
  • Assist with organization of meetings, field visits, and other activities
  • Assist with other programmatic and administrative duties as required
  • Other duties as necessary and as assigned by immediate supervisor

Required Qualifications


  • Advanced degree in international public health, international affairs or related field with 8 years' relevant technical experience
  • Experience working in GOVERNMENT or Donor funded programs (experience with USG funded program added advantage)
  • Experience in RMNCH programming
  • Demonstrated skills in the technical side of program implementation
  • Ability and willingness to learn
  • Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
  • Experience in public speaking and professional presentations
  • Field oriented and comfortable with a team approach to programming
  • Excellent verbal, written communications and presentation skills
  • Strong programming, management and technical skills
  • Has sensitivity and understanding of the beneficiary population
  • Aware of and sensitive to working in multiple socio-economic settings and with multi-cultural groups in a developing country environment
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
  • Set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities
  • Dynamic personality and a team player
  • Computer literacy, particularly in the use of MS word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel nationally as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s in Public Health
  • Experience working and living in the field, preferably in a low resource setting
  • Fluency in a second language and/ or multiple dialects
